what is important is how quickly the cylinder pumps up to the max compression reading on the gauge...it should reach the max read within 3 or 4 at the most revolutions..if it reaches say 150PSI but takes 10 revolutions of the piston to TDC on the compression stroke it's loosing compression and a leakdown test should be performed next to pinpoint the problem. Hey Guys, So I decided to finally do a compression test. Results as follows: Cylinder 1 = 117 Cylinder 2 = 117 Cylinder 3 = 105 Cylinder 4 = 105 The motor was idled for a solid 20 minutes, oil temps where around 85°c and water temps where about 95°c. Took the measurements right away with open throttle. Cylinder 2 and 4 where tested in the summer . I used a cheap 25 dollar compression tester i got at Pepboys. Other than that all you need is basic tools. Ratchet, 10mm, 12mm, spark plug socket, small extension, and patience when trying to screw the compression test tube into the hole. Spent 45 min performing compression test with compressiont tester today. unless you are a building a drag machine and need the better tranny or want the limited SWP paint the 06 is perfect. in your case i wouldn't spend over 24k unless they are certifying it then maybe at most 25k. and if you're getting an unmolested 07 i'd have them pay for the leakdown and compression test or pay for it yourself if you truely . Just swapped out the factory plugs and did a compression test at the same time. Replaced with one step colder NGK's provided by turninconcepts.com. 42K miles, catless stage 2 for the last 30K miles.
